  With a live-concert the Vienna boys' choir is going to celebrate the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the Stephansdom in Vienna on January 27th, 2006.
Not only was Mozart confirmed after his death in this famous church, but also got married and was one of his sons baptized. The boys' choir will be singing the "Kroenungsmesse" K. 317, the Ave Verum K. 618 and various others. The soprano soloist Sandrine Piau can be heard in the aria "Et incarnatus est" from Mozart's mass in C minor (K. 427) and also during the "Laudate Dominum" from the Vesperae solennes de Confessore (K. 339). Bertrand de Billy is conducting the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The Vienna boys' choir are one of the musical institutions in Austria. Since its founding over 500 years ago the Vienna Boys' Choir, have been a fixed attraction in Austrian musical life. A number of important musicians have been connected with the famous choir. Joseph Haydn, and Franz Schubert for example have been members themselves. Not to forget Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who performed with the choir.
