HEINZ HOLLIGER, KELLER QUARTET |
|

| |
The Oboe Quartet in F major (K.370) occupies a special place among Mozart’s chamber music works because it is the only piece written for this instrument. Written for the famous oboist Friedrich Ramm as a showpiece, the Quartet originated in 1781 in Salzburg. Between the light and vital outer movements, the melancholic central movement appears like a dreamlike episode. Above all in the closing rondo, Mozart displays a particular pleasure in playful virtuosity. Heinz Holliger is amongst the most versatile music personalities of our time. The concert – recorded in the Basel Music Academy – brings the multiple award-winning composer and oboist together with the internationally known Keller Quartet. |
